LODGING

We have blocked out rooms at two hotels for guests to consider.  If you are going to stay at either of these options with the block rates, please book your room as soon as possible.  Thanks!

-Brea and Nathan

The first one is called The Mary Prentiss Inn and is a historic bed and breakfast in Cambridge.

Location in relation to wedding weekend events:
The Mary Prentiss is located in Cambridge 0.5 miles from Hope Fellowship Church, 0.4 miles from the Porter Square T stop, and 0.4 miles from the restaurant we will be having the rehearsal dinner at.  It is about 35 minutes from the Wayside Inn, but we will be chartering buses from the church to the reception and from the reception back to the Inn.

Location in relation to other Boston attractions:
The Porter Square subway stop services the Red Line and the Commuter Rail.  On the Red Line, Porter is one stop away from Harvard Square, three stops away from MIT, four stops from Beacon Hill, and five stops from Park Street, which is in Boston right on the Boston Common, and where you can easily (and without additional fare) take the Green Line to other attractions in the city such as Fenway Park, TD Banknorth Garden, Public Garden, Prudential Center, Museums, Newbury Street, and many other historical landmarks.  Using the Commuter Rail you can also visit places outside of Boston including some of the seaside towns.

Other conveniences around the Inn:

Within a two block radius there are coffee shops, dry cleaners, restaurants, boutiques, a drug store, a wine and liqueur store, hair and nail salons, and a local bookstore.  It is also 0.4 miles from a grocery store.

Parking:
We have tried hard to find ways to save you the trouble and money of renting a car, but if you choose to do so, there is free parking at the Inn.

Rooms:
Each room is unique and you can read about them here.  All have at least one bed, a full private bathroom, and free high-speed wireless Internet access.

More about the Inn:
Each morning they serve a free, made to order, hot breakfast and have complimentary coffee, tea, and cookies in the afternoon. Because we are hoping to occupy most of the rooms, they are also allowing us to use their dining area and patio to host additional gatherings.  You can read more about the history of the Inn here.

A note from Brea and Nathan:
Because of its convenient location and the option to host private events, this is our preferred hotel for the bridal party and family.

Price:
We saved this information for last because we do realize that traveling for a wedding can become expensive and if you are not familiar with Boston holiday lodging prices it can come as a shock.  We want to assure you that we did do a fair amount of research and in comparison to what we found, this is a deal.  There are some places that offered a lower rate but you would have to rent a car because they are located too far out of the city and/or not T accessib le.  Plus many of them did not include breakfast.  Also because it is a holiday weekend during a desired time to travel to Boston and during the graduation season of the 40+ schools in the area, the deal they are giving us is $50 to $100 less than it would be without the wedding block.  All that being said, the rate is $199 a night.

How to Book at the Inn:
The best way is to call 617-661-2929 and tell them you are with the Cherne / Ashcraft wedding block.  If you need to talk to the manager, his name is Joel.  We lose the block rate price on April 1st, so please book your room before that date.  If you have any issues, please contact us at nathanandbrea@gmail.com.

The other option is The Hilton Boston Back Bay which is located in Boston.

Location in relation to wedding weekend events:
The Hilton in Back Bay is a 5 minute walk to the Green Line at the Prudential Center in one direction or a 5 minute walk in the other direction to the Green Line near the Hynes Convention Center; at both T stops you can take the Green Line to Park Street where you can easily (and without additional fare) switch to the Red Line.  The Red line will take you five stops to Porter Square which is 0.3 miles to Hope Fellowship Church.  The total trip should be about 30 minutes. The hotel and the church are about 35 minutes from the Wayside Inn, but we will be chartering buses from the church to the reception and from the reception back to the Porter Square T stop where you can take the train back to the Hilton.

Location in relation to other Boston attractions:
"You can step outside our door and enjoy some of Boston's leading attractions and historical sites. Fenway Park, Museum of Fine Arts, Symphony Hall, fashionable Newbury Street, Copley Place, and Boston Common are just some of sights easily accessible from the hotel." --Hilton Back Bay Website

Parking:
We have tried hard to find ways to save you the trouble and money of renting a car, but if you choose to do so, it costs $35 a night to park at the Hilton.

Rooms:
"Hilton Boston Back Bay's ultra-modern rooms are decorated in dark-wood accents and Boston-inspired themes. Guests on the upper levels can enjoy spectacular views of downtown Boston and the Charles River. Ideal for business travelers, couples, and families our Standard Rooms offer your choice of one king or two double beds." --Hilton Back Bay Website

More about the Hilton:
"All guests enjoy amenities such as weekday newspaper, OnCommand® movies and video games, as well as a newly renovated fitness center and indoor pool open 24 hours for your fitness needs."--Hilton Back Bay Website.  There is also a restaurant in the hotel called Forty Dalton which serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and room service.

A note from Brea and Nathan:
This is a great option if you if are wanting a Boston vacation.  It is within walking distance to many of Boston's most popular attractions and is very T accessible.  Also, if you have points for hotels under the Hilton umbrella you can use them!

Price:
Again we saved this part for last and the information from above applies, but we did get a deal here as well.  The rate is $199 a night.

How to Book at the Hilton:
The best way is to call 617-236-1100 and tell them you are with the Cherne / Ashcraft wedding block.  If you need to talk to the woman who set up the block, her name is Tara.  We lose the block rate price on April 1st so please book your room before that date.  If you have any issues, please contact us at nathanandbrea@gmail.com.

Other lodging to consider...

There are still rooms available at the Wayside Inn Monday night after the reception.  Staying there would allow you to enjoy yourself at the reception and wake up in America's oldest operating inn.  However, since the transportation we will be providing from the church will not be available to you Tuesday morning you would need to have your own transportation arranged to bring you back to the Boston area / airport.  You are welcome to consider staying at the Wayside Inn during your entire trip, but be advised that its located about 30 minutes outside of Boston and you would definitely need to rent a car.

Hostel International Boston offers inexpensive lodging and you can book from their website at http://www.bostonhostel.org/reservations.shtml.  When Brea first visited Boston in early 2006, she stayed in a 6 bed room for around $30 a night.  They also offer private rooms for $80-130 a night.  Staying at a hostel can be a fun way to meet other travelers and if you don't mind communal bathrooms, a great way to save money on lodging.  The hostel is 0.2 miles from the Hynes Convention Center T stop.  From there you can take the Green Line to Park Street where you can easily (and without additional fare) switch to the Red Line.  The Red line will take you five stops to Porter Square which is 0.3 miles to Hope Fellowship Church.  The total trip should be about 30 minutes. If you are taking the buses we are providing from the church to the reception site, you can take our bus back to the Porter Square T stop and take the train back to the hostel.

We have some friends who have offered air mattresses, couches, and floors to guests who need affordable (i.e. free) accommodations.  If you are interested in being a house guest, please email us at nathanandbrea@gmail.com.
